Alvaro Z. Gallegos is the founder and the inventor of the Z-Coil shoe.

Mr. Gallegos was an avid runner for many years. And like many runners, he eventually began to experience knee and back pain from the impact associated with running. Runners typically deliver 3 to 5 times their body weight to the striking heel, and even the impact of walking is 1 to 1.5 times a person’s body weight. Little wonder that impact is commonly regarded as a major cause of foot, leg, and back pain.

Realizing that he needed some sort of protection against this type of pain and injury, Al embarked on a mission to develop a shoe that would not only protect against impact, but could also be adjusted to compensate for other foot, leg and back problems. After years of research and experimentation, he created Z-Coil® footwear—and launched a whole new industry of Pain Relief Footwear TM.
